Take A Holiday From Your WooCommerce Store

Taking holidays isn’t that easy when you run your own business. This is especially true if you have an online store. You can’t just set up an auto responder that says “Gone fishing.” If you’ve built a business with a good reputation you don’t want to risk that. Leaving your online store with someone else might lead to mistakes and upset customers. Social media gives upset customers a megaphone. So where do orders go wrong? You might have different suppliers for different products that need to be contacted. Perhaps you have products that are similar and can easily be incorrectly ordered. Your delivery requirements might differ from product to product. You might have products that are only sold occasionally. Even with great training, good team members might not remember how to do something they don’t do regularly. Capturing your knowledge and getting it to the right person at the right time helps you hand over your business and take your holiday. […]

WooCommerce, Deliverability and Transactional Email Integration

Do you want to improve the deliverability of your WooCommerce transactional emails? Or in other words, does it matter to you if these wind up in your customer’s spam filters instead of their inboxes: WooCommerce order notifications shipping notifications password reset requests subscription renewals emails newsletters Mostly you’d think that once your website is configured and WooCommerce is running, that your emails would get from A to B. Except that to get from A to B, you need to use the email superhighways. Your transactional emails need to thread their way through massive amounts of spam and ordinary emails. The email servers that process the vast numbers of emails every day are getting increasingly selective about what they send through and what they filter out as junk. The first question you might want to know is how many of my emails are getting through and how many are getting filtered? With a standard email setup, there isn’t a way you can answer this question. How To Speed Up Your WooCommerce Order Processing

“Anyway is anyone else having problems with slow orders?” “I placed an order last Saturday and they didn’t even attempt to ship it out yet!” “I placed my order with express shipping. It’s now over a week from my original date of order and my status is still on order processing.”   When was the last time one of your customers complained about a delay in delivery? Once a customer might have suffered in silence but now they’re quick to share their frustration. If your products or services are diverse there’s an even greater chance of order processing delays. Diversity means that your supplier, packaging and dispatch details may all may differ from product to product. Everyday sales will go through quickly but anything unusual will slow down the whole system. Your order processing team will have to remember what to do, check for more information or you ask questions. The challenge is how build a system so that your order processing team are across the detail and orders can be turned around quickly and without error. […]

Preventing Errors In WooCommerce Order Fulfilment

If you’re running an online store errors can cost you dearly. Mistakes mean that your hard earned customer is disappointed and angry. Returns are expensive and time consuming and your reputation on social media might be trashed. Let’s analyse where the errors are most likely to occur: Packing & Shipping: Incorrect packaging can result in breakages and returns. Similar Products: You might have several products that are similar. People order the wrong one and then need an exchange or refund. Infrequently Purchased: Your staff are most likely to make an error when they are receive an order for a product or service that they don’t sell very often. They have to rely on their memory and that’s when the errors occur. Shipping Before Payment: An order might be processed before a payment is received. If the payment is dishonoured your store loses on that sale. Special Offers: You might have encouraged a sale with a special gift offer. If your dispatch staff fail to include that gift you’ve disappointed a customer and then need to spend more on additional postage. If you are the owner of the store chances are you don’t make these mistakes because you know what needs to happen. The difficulty comes in when you have to train staff and they need to remember a lot of that information. […]

Our New WooCommerce Order Management Plugin

We’re excited to be launching our third WooCommerce plugin, After The Order. The idea for this came from some of our WooCommerce clients who sometimes had issues with staff making errors when fulfilling online orders. We also use WooCommerce ourselves, and had developed a note taking system for infrequently ordered services in our own store so we could save time. The new plugin lets you record special instructions with the product information. When orders occur, the special instructions appear as part of the order email generated by the WooCommerce store. In essence, the plugin is helping you implement a better system for order management in your business. Good systems make your life easier as well as making it possible to delegate to others. Your system shall set you free! […]
