Migrating your AWeber Raw HTML Widget to the new JavaScript Snippet

Migrating your AWeber Raw HTML Widget to the new JavaScript Snippet 2017-05-01T15:26:58+00:00

AWeber has recently introduced a new and improved way to embed a subscription form on your website. This new method uses Javascript.

If you are using the old Raw HTML embed method, you should follow the instructions below to migrate your widget to the new embed method.

Why do I need to do this?

AWeber’s new Javascript embed method allows you to create more advanced subscription forms. For example, you can have more than just name and email address fields. It also allows you to track the number of displays and the conversion rate for your subscription form.

The next version of the AWeber integration plugin will no longer support the old widget format, so you should migrate your form(s) as soon as possible.

Steps to migrate your widget(s)

  1. Go to the AWeber home page and log into your account.
  2. Click on Web Forms.
  3. Click on the Name of the subscription form that is linked to your website.
  4. If AWeber asks you to upgrade your form, do so.
  5. If required, configure the design of your web form, ensuring that the form’s width is smaller than the size of your website’s sidebar.
  6. Save your web form.
  7. If required, customise your web form’s settings, then go to step 3.
  8. Choose the “I will Install My Form” option and choose the Javascript snippet embed method:

  9. Copy the snippet.
  10. Return to your website’s dashboard, and navigate to Appearance, Widgets.
  11. Add a new “AWeber Mailing List (Javascript Snippet)” widget to your sidebar just above your “AWeber Mailing List (Raw HTML)” widget.
  12. Paste the Javascript snippet into the text box, and click the Save button to save the new widget.
  13. Expand the “AWeber Mailing List (Raw HTML)” widget, then click the “Delete” button.
  14. Repeat this process for any other Raw HTML widgets that you have in your website’s sidebar(s).

Once you have migrated all widgets, the red migration message should no longer be displayed in your dashboard.
