Improve your website's reliability by adding a tertiary nameserver to your domain(s)

Reading Time: < 1 minute

In order to help improve your OM4 website’s performance and reliability, we have recently deployed a third (tertiary) nameserver. All three of our nameservers are now geographically dispersed, with nameservers in Queensland, Dallas and London.

If your OM4 website is accessible via your own domain name (eg yourcompany.com), it is important that you update your domain name(s) to take advantage of this.

If your website is a subdomain website (eg yourname.om4business.com or yourname.om4tourism.com) then you do not need to change anything.

What do I need to do?

  1. Visit Pingability and perform a DNS check on your domain.
  2. Scroll down to the name servers section. Your domain should have three nameservers listed: ns1.om4hub.com, ns2.om4hub.com and ns3.om4hub.com.
  3. If all three are listed, you don’t need to do anything else.
If your domain name only has ns1.om4hub.com and ns2.om4hub.com listed (and not ns3.om4hub.com), then you need to update your domain’s nameservers.
  4. Once you have updated your domain(s) to use all three nameservers, return to Pingability and perform another DNS check on your domain. The check should now have all three nameservers listed.
