Website Go Live

Our Go Live service involves taking a development website into full production mode.

If OM4 is developing your website for you, this service is almost certainly included in your Offer. OM4 partners may complete all these steps themselves, or engage OM4 to provide the service.

The Go Live service takes place after:

  • the developer has completed a website using an OM4 subdomain address (e.g. newsite.om4tourism.com)
  • the client has approved the design and content for production
  • a recurring payment for Hosting, Administration & Support has been established
Website Settings Check We check common website settings for accuracy. This includes email addresses (configured for the website administrator and the website contact forms), timezone and privacy settings.
Home Page Title Check We check the website’s home page has an optimised page title and page meta description.
Website Users We create user accounts for each website user, set first name, surname and preferred name. We update Page and Post owners to the primary user account for the website.
Business Email Setup We will configure the client’s business email. If the client has elected to use Google Apps, we configure DNS, establish an SPF record, set up Google Apps and create the initial email addresses ready for use. If the client uses a custom mail server, we configure MX records to point to the required mail server.
Google Analytics Setup We will configure a new Google Analytics account for the website and install the tracking code.
API Settings If the website is using Google Maps we check there is a valid API code for the domain. If the website is using Typekit fonts, we check the Typekit embed code is installed and activated for the production domain and check that fonts are displaying.
Redirects If the new website is going live on an existing domain, we will configure 301 redirects for pages currently indexed by Google, redirecting them to the required pages in the new website. Up to 50 redirects are included in the standard service, additional redirects will be quoted at an hourly rate.
Feedburner Setup We will create a Feedburner account in the client’s name and enable email based blog subscriptions in the client website.
Robots We will enable the robots.txt plugin and configure it to block any pages that are specified as not to be indexed by search engines.
DNS Update If the website has been developed at a temporary domain, we will provide detailed instructions on updating name servers for the required domain, or if the domain username/password is provided, log in and update the name servers. Once the name servers are updated, we will map the website to the production domain.
Link Check Once the site is migrated to its final domain we conduct a check of all internal and external links to make sure they are valid. Any broken links are fixed.
Google XML Sitemap If required we will activate an XML Sitemap at /sitemap.xml and ensure Google is alerted to the presence of the new sitemap. This is recommended for new websites, and not recommended for migrations of existing websites.
Education, Announcements and Support Unless requested otherwise, we a) send an invitation to the primary account users to the OM4 Education email list, and b) establish a user account and send an invitation to the OM4 Forums. For the primary website contact we send an invitation to the OM4 Announcements email list.
Client Advisory Note We will produce a Client Advisory notifying the client of the address of their website, the account names for any related accounts (mail, analytics). The Client Advisory will be sent to the Go Live co-ordinator or direct to the client, as specified.

The Go Live service from OM4 costs $276 AUD, or $414 when combined with Google Apps setup.
