Domain Name Registration
To establish a new website you require a domain. We provide detailed instructions on how to purchase and manage your own domain in our How To articles.
If you are a client of our website design and development services, you may also choose the OM4 Domain Registration Service to have the work done for you.
Here is how our Domain Registration Service works. You:
- If a new domain, choose your domain name and check availability – you can use the free search facility at a variety of registrars for this purpose.
- advise us of the domain you want us to register/transfer for you and initiate your payments.
We will then:
- set up an account for you at a domain registrar.
- transfer or register the domain in your name (as owner and administrative contact), with OM4 listed as the technical contact.
- set the name servers to the OM4 name servers.
- send you the username/password for your domain so you can administer it in the future, including access to the password required to transfer it to another registrar.
- renew the domain each period while the service is active.
Your domain will be registered through an auDA accredited domain name registrar. Our standard service includes renewing the domains each period, as renewal falls due. While we will endeavour to process renewals in a timely fashion, we are unable to provide any warranty or guarantee in relation to domain renewals, and encourage you to manage your own domains if required.
Register or Purchase?
You can only register domains for a period of time. They cannot be bought. So we will register the domain for you for a period.
