Domain Registration

To establish a new website you require a domain. We provide detailed instructions on how to purchase and manage your own domain in our How To articles.

However we recognise that just because you could read the documentation doesn’t mean you want to (or have the time to). You might just choose to pay OM4 to do this on your behalf.

So, here is what will happen.

You will need to:

choose a domain name
check availability - you can use the free search facility at NetRegistry for this purpose.
initiate this service and advise us of the domain you want us to register for you.

We will then:

set up an account for you at a domain registrar.
register the domain for 2 years in your name (as owner and administrative contact), with OM4 listed as the technical contact.
set the name servers to the OM4 name servers.
send you the username/password for your domain so you can administer it in the future.

Your domain is now ready to be used for your website.

Register or Purchase?

You can only register domains for a period of time. They cannot be bought. So we will register the domain for you for a period of two years. You are responsible for renewing it. If the registration lapses, someone else could register it. OM4 does not look after domain renewals for you.
