The price of registering a domain varies widely. Recently I thought it would be interesting to figure out just how widely, so I’ve had a list of all the published domain registration prices prepared. These are for AuDA registered registrars, so resellers aren’t included.
Domain Name Registration Pricing Comparison – Australian registrars
If you buy more than a few domains and have been paying over $70 AUD for a .com domain (and several registrars in Australia charge this), you might want to check out your options. The highest priced options are more than 9 times the price of the lower options. Even for .com.au domains you can pay up to 5 times as much.
$10-20/yr is my rule of thumb for domain registration fees – I buy quite a few, and prefer using the self service providers, and you might find personalised service costs more.
