Using Zenfolio with your Photography Website

Photographers can use a ZenFolio account for a variety of purposes to support their website:

  • storage: provide a bulk storage/backup option for hi-res images.
  • stock photo sales: make collections of images available for sale as rights managed stock, paying a 10% commission on sales.
  • client proofing/sales: make collections of image proofs available for clients to select and purchase and for you to then self-fulfill, paying a 5% commission on purchases.
  • print sales: make collections of images available for sale as prints via 3rd party fulfillment partners, paying a 15% commission on sale price less 3rd party fulfillment costs.

You can create collections of images in your ZenFolio account and link directly to them from your website, for example, to provide access to a specified collection of stock photos. Alternatively you can provide access to your ZenFolio collections via a subdomain of your account (e.g. folio.mydomain.com).

You can direct upload images to ZenFolio from Lightroom, Aperture, iPhoto and Photo Mechanic.

Pricing for a Premium account – which provides unlimited storage of hi-res images (TIF or JPG, up to 24MB/image) – is $100 USD/yr. A Premium Business account is $250/yr and allows images up to 48Mb.

Print ordering is managed through 3rd party fulfillment partners, who mainly focus on the US/Europe. One UK based partner ships to Australia, however shipping costs and times are a factor.
