Adding Users to Your OM4 Website
Your OM4 site allows multiple users to access your site with different access levels.
For example, you can add a colleague as an Editor of your site if you wish to give them access to manage the content on your OM4 site. You could also add your business partner as an Administrator to allow them to have full control over your web site while you are out of the office.
The first step in adding a user is to login to your website Dashboard and click Add New in the Users menu (towards the bottom on the left).
*if you have a standalone OM4 site, see below.
- Enter the user’s username (your choice) and their email address. We don’t support hotmail addresses, as for some reason hotmail filters emails from WordPress sites.
- Select the appropriate role for the user. This will typically be either Editor, Author or Contributor. Be careful if selecting Administrator, as this will give the user full access to your dashboard, including the ability to delete your OM4 web site!
- Click the Add User button.
Verification
The user will receive an email inviting them to your website. They will receive a link to your site along with the username you specified for them and a randomly generated password.
They have to click the verification link before they can use their username and password, so if the email happens to go into their junk mail trap, well, you may have to help them go and find it.
Once verified the user will then have access to your site’s Dashboard when they log in.
* If you have a Standalone OM4 website
With a standalone OM4 website, you get a slightly different screen that lets you create the password for the user. They don’t get a verification email, instead you just need to advise them of their new username and password and they can use it straight away.
